how to heal this week according to ayurveda + traditional chinese medicine + my plan for the week
One of my favorite things to do is to sit down and set a little plan for the week. This is different frommy to-do list + calendar- it’s more like setting a vibe of the week, what I want to do more of, less of, personal goals, is it a cozy e week or super social, etc. I don’t do this every single week, but when I do I feel SO incredible and inspired. I also figured, why not share it on here? Maybe some of you would love to do the same! Or be inspired to create your own.
What’s crazy is that as I started reading about what each week or season represents in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda, I realized how accurate they were to how I was feeling, and what’s happening to our bodies seasonally. And now I use them as a way to infuse even more healing into my week.
Last week, I was just noticing little things- I was craving a deep spring clean, wanting to lighten up, I was doing my zeolite sauna detox, clearing out my space, and everything felt more cluttered to me, even if it wasn’t. I felt pretty good overall, but there was this background feeling of wanting to simplify everything- everything just felt a little scattered. So that’s what I did!
And while yes I was traveling so that is what I just assumed it was, when I looked into last week in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurvedic Calendar, it honestly blew my mind. It turns out, that exact time of year is when your body is naturally trying to process and release everything that’s built up during winter and early spring.
And what’s so cool to me is that these feelings- like being a little foggy, or craving a clear space and lighter foods- are actually built into the rhythm of the season. These ancient systems describe them in detail, and they say your body cravings nudges you to do those things naturally.
Learning this helped me lean into the things I was already craving: broth, herbs, light structure, reorganization. It helped me pull ideas into how to go even deeper into these things.
So I decided, I want to infuse these into my weekly plans. It’s not about being perfect, or following a strict protocol. It’s just about paying attention and letting the season guide you a little. And actually becoming as connected to your cravings as you can!
This Week in TCM + Ayurveda (May 19–25)
Right now, your body is still coming down from the intensity of spring: the detox phase, the increase in movement, the buildup of activity. The liver’s been in charge of clearing out waste, regulating energy, and detoxing hormones like cortisol. So if you’ve been feeling a little tired but wired, scattered, or sensitive, that actually makes sense- your liver is probably a little overworked, and your body hasn’t fully adjusted to the new season yet. Continue to support your liver by having lots of vitamin C rich fruits, bitter herbs, and hydration.
In Ayurveda, this same week is the transition from Kapha (cold, heavy, slow) to Pitta (hot, sharp, intense). This period has a name: Ritu Sandhi, which means “seasonal junction.” It’s considered a vulnerable time- digestion can get thrown off, sleep can feel inconsistent, and immunity tends to dip. Ayurveda doesn’t recommend going full pitta mode yet. Instead, it’s about gently shifting- nesting, caring for your space, lighter meals, earlier bedtimes, consistent wakeups, and less stimulation. It’s definitely a cocoon week!
This Weeks Plan
The vibes: Cocoon week. Last week was travel, social, etc. and this week I want to spend lots of time at home. I want to wake up early and after my journaling and gelatin matcha, bring my laptop into bed with red light therapy on, a pot of hot tea, and just write. I want to bake bread, and drink lots of bone broth with rice noodles. I want fresh flowers in the house and get rid of lots of things.
What’s in/ I’ll be doing this week:
switching from gelatin hot chocolates to gelatin matcha lattes
lots of fruit, herbs, bone broth, + hot tea
restocking my herbs (I just placed an order for hibiscus, chamomile, brahmi, cascara sagrada, rose buds, and medicinal soda syrups)
restocking my closet: donating old clothes I don’t like, restocking socks, gym clothes, towels, and ordering a natural fiber summer capsule wardrobe.
working on Fauna + content.
gelatin marshmallows
making a big batch bone broth from scratch
Spending lots of time in the sun
Being in bed by 9 to red light and read
So were clearing out, and just refreshing things.
What’s out:
Getting distracted by my phone. And I’m absolutely banning my phone during my morning journaling!! I’ve been doing my same morning routine for probably two years now and so I started getting a little relaxed with it and were reeling it back in. I like when my morning routine is just a super quick 30 minute thing!
Fried + heavy foods. Don't get me wrong, tallow fried, cheesy things are incredible, but it’s not the vibe right now. Fresh, bitter, hydrating foods are in!
Too many things to focus on. Keep things as simple as possible. Simplify everything.
Anyways let me know your thoughts! What’s your plan for this week? And any challenges you’ve done that’s really been life changing?
