I have been *obsessed* with this gut cleansing apple crumble. It’s just as good with raw milk ice cream as it is with yogurt. It tastes like dessert but is pure medicine.

If you read my fall detox guide, you’ll know that fall was our ancestor’s parasite cleanse. Pumpkin seeds were eaten to paralyze parasites in the gut, the fall spices like clove, cinnamon + nutmeg destroyed parasite metabolism & eggs. Apples + pears were cooked so that they released pectin, a goo that attached itself to all the bad stuff in the gut and carried it out. Nourishing foods like butter, bone broths, grassfed nose to tail meats, pumpkin, sourdough, and cranberries helped seal our gut lining and strengthen our bodies to be strong enough so these parasites could not take hold.

Modern cleanses leave you starving and weak, but our ancestors knew that in order to properly cleanse we needed to be strengthened & nourished so we could actually fight off the bad and complete the detox.

That being said, this gut cleansing apple crumble takes all of this wisdom from our ancestral cleanse, and is my favorite fall desert!

Let’s get into it, shall we?
