This is a good start, Valerie, but one has to be cautious that they don't become addicted to their laptop next. Because at the end of the day, phone or laptop or speakers - all are just tools to the core problem of excess 'content consumption'. To solve those problems, one has to cultivate small habits over time to rewire their brain and change their habits. I reduced my content consumption from 6 hours to 1 hour per day in 4 years by cultivating such habits.

Interesting! I find my laptop not addictive- it's so much less stimulating than the phone. what have been some of your most effective habits in reducing content consumption?

Well, there is a list of habits that together had a compound and ripple effect. But when starting the journey, the following worked the best for me

- No internet for the first 60 minutes in the morning

- No internet 60 minutes before sleeping

- No internet in the bathroom

- No internet when on call and during meals

- Investing time in offline activities

- Doing all the household chores by self - cooking, cleaning, laundry, groceries, gardening

- Switching off the internet on the phone most time, switching internet only when I need

- Switching off most notifications on phone and laptop. Going to the platform only when I need to.

I love this! No phone until 12 & a real alarm clock. I feel it! Even a sunrise alarm clock would be dope! Thanks Queen!

Yass exactly! The light waking you up. Rather than the sound you know? Or maybe a peaceful sound 😂 I have the ScreenZen app on my phone. 6-9 AM every morning. And also at night 8-10 PM. It's been sooo helping. 60 days with this morning routine. And when I say my nervous system, sleep & family is so much more relaxed. It is. Also at night! I can be an ambitious mami, so cutting myself off & really making those boundaries is healing my scarcity & productivity conditioning. I LOVE the vlog idea. I also use my phone for all my filming & socials. And now having substack, it's like I don't care about the algorithm anymore, if you fuck with me, you fuck with me!

This is girl! Make a separate section just for it! Folks can get emails about it. And you can add the video. I also auto-link to YouTube for my podcast 🙏🏽
